The Megalith

According to an ancient legend, at the dawn of time a star fell to Earth, bringing living beings who looked like humans but had eyes in which the sky was reflected. They said their people were called Ma’ya, and that light would take billions of years to reach their home.
They taught humans everything they knew themselves: to look at the sky not only with their eyes but with their mind, to see the cycles of planets, the breath of stars, the path of galaxies.
Over time, their blood mingled with that of Earth, their bodies aged, and their breath dissolved into the jungles. People worshiped them as gods, built temples in their honor, and tried to preserve the memory of them for their descendants.
Billions of years passed, the sun had almost faded. Human civilization had gone to the stars. A Ma’ya research ship discovered an artifact on a distant planet. The inscription on it was written in their native language - it read "sky".
